Duval-Leroy Cuvee des Roys 1986 Champagne Magnum
Gruet Blanc de Noirs nv 6 Magnums

1990 Perrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagne. A Tete de Cuvee from a great vintage.  Throw a party with this 3 liter bottle.

“Complex, nutty, vibrant aromas of orange peel, lemon oil, and biscuit. Very concentrated and intensely flavored; thick with extract in the style of the best '90s, but without any heaviness. Lemon and apple flavors really cling to the palate. Finishes very long and thoroughly ripe.”  ——Steven Tanzer

And, for everyday enjoyment 6 magnums of Gruet Blanc de Noirs Methode Champenoise—each Magnum signed by Winemaker Laurent Gruet.

“Made just like champagne… Gruet makes a fine brut non-vintage blanc de noirs that does not seem to be sold in Westchester County, but merchants can order it. This fuller, rounder but still lean wine, is pretty, with a pinkish hue in its color, which expresses pinot noir. Drink it lightly cool, and you'll relish the tea roses and young watermelon lightness and elegance that are their most noticeable characteristics.”  Jancis Robinson

1986 Duval Leroy Champagne: “The Champagnes of Duval-Leroy have borne the hallmark of expertise acquired over the generations. Today, the predominance of the Chardonnay grape in the wines produced by Duval-Leroy gives them the sophistication, lightness and elegance that are their most noticeable characteristics. the champagnes of Duval-Leroy have borne the hallmark of expertise acquired over the generations.” Duval-Leroy notes

Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve and
Symmetry Alexander Valley Meritage

Two Jeroboams

2004 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

2004 Symmetry Meritage

2004 Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve:  “The wine has a dense purple color and a wonderful, sweet, almost St.-Julien like nose of licorice, red and black currants, cedar, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, elegant, but authoritatively flavored, this wine is still young, rich, and very fine.”  Robert Parker

From Master Sommelier Andrea Immer:
2004 Symmetry Alexander Valley Meritage: “As is typical of Rodney Strong's high-end reds, this one brims with opulent, lush dark fruit flavors - blueberry, raspberry and cassis syrup. The firm, grippy tannins need some time to resolve, so decant if you open the wine now. The finish is long, with licorice and a vanilla-coconut character from oak.”

Value: $800

Sine Qua Non: Robert Parker's 100 point wines

Two 750ml bottle lot

2003 “Inaugural” Syrah Santa Rita Hills

2004 “Poker Face” Syrah

Sine Qua Non is one of the rarefied California cult wine producers.  Hard to get is an understatement; just try to find some!  Robert Parker deemed the 2003 “The Inaugural” Syrah and the 2004 “Poker Face” Syrah perfect wines, giving both wines a score of 100 points.

2003: “The Inaugural” Syrah: “The mind-boggling 2003 The Inaugural Syrah is an emotional experience to taste as well as drink… This stunning Syrah boasts a magnificent bouquet of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, licorice, and roasted meats. It hits the palate with remarkable intensity, purity, and full-bodied power, but it somehow manages to dance across the taste buds with the gracefulness of a ballerina.”  Robert Parker

2004 “Poker Face” Syrah: “A blockbuster in the making is the 2004 Poker Face.  An opaque purple color as well as an extraordinarily intense and projected set of aromatics (including smoke, blueberries, blackberries, cassis, and flowers) are found in this full-bodied, layered, rich, mouth-filling 2004. Neither heavy nor overwrought, this is another potentially perfect wine from a producer who continues to go from strength to strength.”  Robert Parker

Marcassin Chardonnay

Two  750ml  bottle lot

1997 Marcassin Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay (750 ml bottle)

1997 Marcassin Gauer Vineyard Chardonnay (750 ml bottle)

1997 Gauer Upper Barn Vineyard Chardonnay: “The 1997 Chardonnay Gauer Ranch Upper Barn exhibits a light gold color, and a blossoming nose of tropical fruits intermixed with leesy, buttery notes, roasted nuts, citrus, and floral scents. The potential complexity of this wine's bouquet is awesome… The wine hits every sweet spot on the palate, overloading the olfactory senses. It is one of the finest Gauer Ranch cuvees to be released, …these evaluations, as ecstatic as they might be, are probably on the low end of the pleasure/complexity scale of hedonism and intellectual satisfaction..”  —Robert Parker

1997 Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay: “The wine's exotic nose of jammy orange marmalade, pineapple, and loamy soil notes is brilliant. Complex, rich, and expansive on the palate, with medium to full body, and a slightly closed personality, it offers an exotic, spicy, earthy, mineral-dominated finish. This is a superb, complex, Burgundian-styled Chardonnay... It displays an eerie resemblance to a Chassagne-Montrachet grand cru.”  —Robert Parker
